At CHFT, we have 13 colleagues who were born on Christmas Day. We've been getting to know what some of them think of having such a special birthday, and this week it's Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Omar Alnobani's turn.

What was the best present you've ever received?

"My mum knitted me a scarf, and I still have it to this day! My mum’s gift that never goes out of style."

Which do you open first - birthday presents or Christmas presents?

"Whichever one appears in front of me first!"

What's the biggest perk or struggle of having a birthday on Christmas?

"It’s already set in a festive atmosphere, making it the easiest birthday for people to remember. No one has an excuse to forget 25th December. Being born on Christmas Day guarantees you’ll always have a story to tell, and people will instantly ask about it."

What's the biggest struggle of having a birthday on Christmas?

"Good luck planning anything, the whole country is shut!"

Will you be working on your birthday and if so will how will you celebrate?

"I am not working this year so I will be celebrating properly with my wife, my son, and my daughter."

Thank you to Omar for sharing his experience.

Share your Christmas plans with communications

It's almost Christmas and the Communications Team want to hear from wards, teams and departments about their plans for the festive period , so we can spread a little Christmas cheer.

Whether it’s festive fundraising, seasonal sing-a-longs, patient parties, Elf on the Shelf or if colleagues have any interesting Christmas stories to share, email communications@cht.nhs.uk and we’ll be in touch.
