As a Trust we're already good at completing VTE assessments for our patients and prescribing Low Molecular Weight Heparin (LMWH) where appropriate.

NICE recommends administering venous thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis within 14 hours of hospital admission unless this would be inappropriate, e.g. with a patient undergoing surgery within the next 12 hours (or within 36 hours of prescribing fondaparinux).

Doses in the VTE PowerPlans are scheduled for 18:00, so when prescribing in the evening (after 18:00) or overnight, you should consider an additional stat dose by selecting Give First Dose Now.
