Our "Let's Grow Together!" Movember campaign continues, and there is lots happening this month in support of men's health.

Andy's Man Club are coming to CHS and CHFT on Thursday, 27th November to support our Movember campaign

As part of CHS’s Winter Wellness Week, and in conjunction with the team behind CHFT’s Movember campaign, we’re pleased to say that Andy's Man Club will be joining us this month.

All colleagues are welcome to join the session on Thursday, 27th November, 14:30 to 15:30 on the top floor of Acre Mills, Rooms 3 and 4.

To join the event, please fill out this form: Andy's Man Club Meeting  – Fill in form. If there is enough demand, CHS will see if another session can be added on the same day.

Know Thy Nuts for Testicular Cancer

This week, we're also sharing information on testicular cancer. It's a vital topic as it's the most commonly diagnosed cancer in young men globally and in the UK.

  • Why we're talking about it: While it's a serious subject, the key message is overwhelmingly positive: when detected early, testicular cancer is over 98% curable. That's why awareness is so important.
  • What's the guidance? The best action is "Know Thy Nuts". This simply means getting to know what feels normal for you. Experts recommend checking regularly (about once a month) after a warm bath or shower, as this is when the skin of the scrotum is relaxed. **Movember UK’s** "Know Thy Nuts" guide has simple, clear information.
  • How to check: Gently roll each testicle between your thumb and fingers. You're feeling for anything that's unusual for you.
  • What to look for: The most common symptom is a painless lump or swelling (which can be pea-sized or larger), but it could also be a change in shape or texture, a feeling of heaviness, or a dull ache in the testicle or lower abdomen.
  • 'Keep Calm and Check Your Balls' - the 'It's in the Bag' charity made this brilliant, tongue-in-cheek video with a very clear message - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTxoeVZeWlg
