Nurse Consultant for Mental Health, Ian Noonan, has recently helped train Kirklees Community Champions for their second mental health campaign. These community champions play a vital role in tackling health inequalities by raising awareness of key health and wellbeing messages in the communities that need them most.
From July to September, they had more than 1,000 individual conversations and facilitated 96 groups across almost 150 Kirklees locations to explore people's mental health and wellbeing and signpost them to support.
Ian said: "It is such an exciting collaboration and opportunity to work with the Community Champions. If we can get the right mental health support to people early on, they are less likely to need to access emergency and crisis services. Their motto 'A familiar face + a familiar place = great results!' is clearly making a difference to the communities we serve."
