Our paediatric team recognised there was a gap in knowledge with supporting families when a child was involved during end of life care. So the paediatric and end of life team have organised education and training to help.
The first event for this training was recently held, with a few special guest speakers. Including Child Bereavement UK, Forget-Me-Not Charity and Ruth Strauss Foundation.
There was some fantastic feedback from the event:
"Fantastic day. Learnt a lot from other services. Really refreshing to see education about children and young people aimed at adult services."
"Fantastic learning experience. I work in adult services however found a lot of the information to be relevant and transferable."
Colleagues also wrote their pledges as a promise to take what they had learnt back to their work areas.
A huge thank you to organisers:
- End of Life Care Facilitator, Gillian Sykes.
- Key Worker for Child Death, Liz Martel.
- Manager of Children's Community Team, Joanne Ineson.
- Paediatric Matron, Fiona Stuttard.
Further dates are being planned for next year.
