Janet Morrison giving her 200th vaccine

Since the beginning of October, our fantastic peer immuniser community have given more than 2,100 vaccines to protect colleagues, their families and our patients from flu this winter.

Here's Operating Department Practitioner, Janet Morrison, pictured, giving her 200th vaccine since the start of the campaign. Janet has taken the top spot of all our peer immunisers with a total of 224 vaccines given.

Janet, a very familiar face across theatres, has a routine to make sure she’s available at the best times to catch as many colleagues as possible.

She said: “I think that because everyone knows me, they trust me and know I’m passionate about it because of the patients I support. I cover main theatres, the Elective Surgery Unit (ESU), Endoscopy, Ward 10 and ICU.

“I base myself in ESU for an hour when the surgeons and anaesthetists are reviewing their patients, to encourage as many as possible to have their vaccine.

“I then pop to main theatres with my flu trolley, before moving to Endoscopy.

“I try and aim to see colleagues after ward rounds – it’s just a case of catching as many as possible at once.”

Well done to Janet, and huge thanks to all our peer immunisers who have made this year’s campaign such a success so far.
