Tomorrow, Tuesday, 14th October is AHP Day which is an annual celebration for the third largest clinical workforce within the health and care sector, our brilliant Allied Health Professionals (AHPs).
AHPs make up a group of 14 professions, 10 of which we see across all corners of CHFT, and are glued together by an equally resilient AHP Support Workforce. Our talented 10 consist of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Dietitians, Speech and Language Therapists, Podiatrists, Diagnostic Radiographers, Operating Department Practitioners, Orthoptists, Orthotists and Paramedics. You can learn more about each AHP role on the Aspiring Allies website, which is used to promote the professions in educational settings and community centres across Calderdale and Kirklees, or you can watch this film to learn more.
This year, we celebrate 12 months of excellence from our AHPs. From sustainability to research, digital to widening participation, our professions have been at the forefront of innovation and collaboration, whilst continuing to deliver outstanding, compassionate care. Clinical Educators, Arley Byrne and Jessica Loxam, have created a document to highlight some of the fantastic things our AHPs have accomplished this past year.
It wraps up some of the key achievements this year against local CHFT strategy and the national AHP strategy, AHPs Deliver. Please take the time to look over the achievements, encourage colleagues to do the same, and tap into the resources provided throughout.
Our partners from The University of Huddersfield will be joining us on Tuesday, 14th October, where they will visit AHPs across both hospital sites to talk about Continuing Professional Development and additional learning opportunities, to help with your development and next appraisal conversation.
