Here is a brief description of recent policy changes. Please make yourself aware of the changes, as they may also impact training requirements.

The Medicine Code – Section 7 - Prescribing Medicines
- Link to GMC, Rowlands to CHS Outpatient Pharmacy. The Trust has developed standards for prescribing on EPR to support medicine safety and these can be found in the appendix.
- Further guidance has been developed to support prescribers using EPR to complete the Patient Discharge Summary - can be found in section 7B of the Medicine Code.
- Outpatient prescriptions are now sent electronically to Pharmacy with the exception of CD prescriptions.
- Limited supplies with patients at risk of self-harm.
- Datix changed to InPhase.
- Critical medicines must be prescribed and administered in a timely manner Appendix i Trust Guidance and Appendix ii Royal College of Medicine Safety Flash to support prescribing of Critical Medicines in Emergency Departments.
- Musts Do’s to Support Safe Prescribing on Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) EPR.
- Removed references to inpatient from Section 8 Remote Prescribing as this is also sometimes used for outpatients.
- Icon for non-formulary changed from red triangle to red diamond.
Emergency Preparedness Resilience and Response (EPRR) Policy
- Added Deputy DOP RAFT responsibilities.
- Added Health Commander portfolio requirements
- Added integration of JESIP principles to section 10
- Updated CHFT strategic goals to align with 2025/26 strategic plan
- Removed all references to gold, silver and bronze. Replacing with strategic, tactical and operational.
