CHS Switchboard Operator, Allan Conn has achieved 50 working years in the NHS.

He began his career in 1975 as a porter at Storthes Hall. It was here where he met his future wife, Linda, who also worked there as a domestic.

Allan moved to St Luke's Hospital in Bradford to continue working as a porter. During that time the switchboard team were short staffed and asking for volunteers to help them run their wire and plug system (see photo). Allan volunteered and then began his career in switchboard, never looking back.

In 1988 he moved from St Luke's to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and is still working there now. His wife has said that "he'll still be there when he's 100!"

CHS Facilities Manager, Cara Sutcliffe, said: Allan is a reliable, friendly and amazing colleague. I am sure some of you will recognise his voice when you ring switchboard! I am very proud to have worked alongside him. Thank you for your hard work."
