Earlier this year our Chief Nurse Information Officer, Louise Croxall and Associate Director of Nursing, Andrea Dauris visited Monserrat on behalf of CHFT, to investigate how we could support The Montserrat-CHFT Global Fellowship.
The Montserrat-CHFT Global Fellowship is a hybrid programme where you develop your skills and experience by spending three months overseas completing a global health project, in Montserrat (The Carribean). You then return to the Trust with protected time to put what you learned into practice.
The Fellowship supports you to develop your quality improvement and leadership skills and then use these to make a positive difference to people in Calderdale and Huddersfield.
It is hosted by the NHS Global Fellowship team and supported by the NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB). The NHS Global Fellowship has been on offer for nearly 15 years, and in that time, more than 350 NHS staff have undertaken fellowships abroad, many who have returned to the UK have drawn on their global health skills to become senior leaders across the NHS.
Andrea said: "This is a truly exceptional opportunity. Not only will you be supported in leading a transformative quality improvement programme, but you'll also gain invaluable first-hand experience of healthcare in a different country, broadening your perspective and enriching your professional journey."
100% of previous Fellows agreed the Global Fellowship:
- Improved their management skills
- Helped them deliver better health/care outcomes
- Increased their cultural sensitivity
A previous Fellow said: “I can't recommend the fellowship enough for its benefits to personal and professional development. The me that came home was a very different person to the one that went!”
