Last month we shared how the Community Dietetics Team had taken part in a study, which saw new plant-based enteral feed offered to vegan and vegetarian patients.

But for Clinical Lead Dietitian, Lisa Green, who has recently co-written an article about the power of research to support dietetic practice, it wasn’t even on her radar before she was approached by our own Research Team.

Now she’s been the Principal Investigator (PI) for more than one study around new nutritional products and has found that research has offered her personal and professional growth on top of using her clinical skills.

Lisa pictured third right, co-wrote the piece with Dr Ben Green, Medical Nutrition and Policy Manager at AYMES Nutrition, on behalf of the British Specialist Nutrition Association (BSNA).

Lisa said "You don’t realise how much goes on before a product even reaches a trial. Now I can’t believe how much our Research and Development Team do behind the scenes to support us. They all deserve the biggest of shout-outs for their support, especially Research and Development Lead, Tracy Wood.

"Being a PI for more than one project means being organised, meeting deadlines and communicating clearly. I developed critical appraisal skills and a much deeper understanding of research methodology," she said.

"It's changed how our team approaches and delivers care. We’re now more confident that the care we provide is evidence-based and genuinely improves outcomes.

"If you want to get into research like I did, then you can read more about the Research and Development Team on their intranet pages: Research and Development - CHFT Intranet"
