Our very first physiotherapy MSK (musculoskeletal) community appointment day took place at Dean Clough recently - and it was such a success that the team are hoping to run another in the future.

Clinical Lead Physiotherapist, Ben Quinlan, said: "Community Appointment Days (CADs) are innovative healthcare events that aim to transform patient care by bringing together various health services under one roof. CADs are centred around the simple concept of understanding what matters to someone, then working alongside them to make that happen.

"To do this we brought people seeking care, clinical expertise, voluntary sector services and the wider community together under one roof. The comments from patients were so positive, we're sure it'll be a regular event."

Here are a few comments from patients who had been invited by appointment:

"I found the experience useful - quick and efficient"

"It helped to understand my diagnosis better and was useful having access to services"

"I got help from a physio and got follow up appointment so feel these events can help"

"Efficiency of appointment. Smooth transition between services, with a holistic approach to health"

On the day the team brought together:

  • VitaMinds (Talking Therapies)
  • Staying Well and Cancer Service
  • Better Living and Healthy Working Life services
  • Podiatry
  • Women's Activity Centre
  • Active Calderdale Physical Activity Champion and Social Prescriber
  • Citizen's Advice
  • Healthy Minds
  • Leaflets provided by Versus Arthritis and Active Calderdale
