This Wednesday, 1st October sees the start of our Winter Flu Vaccination Campaign for colleagues. This year more than 140 registered colleagues have volunteered to be peer immunisers across CHFT, all ready and waiting to make sure their colleagues stay protected and well this winter.

Surgical Matron, Sarah Bray (pictured), will be one of the first to get her vaccine. She said: "I'll be having the flu jab to help protect not only myself, but my family too. Especially my mum, who has had heart surgery and my dad and stepdad who both have cancer.

"Weakened immune systems make it harder to fight off infections like flu, and there is a higher risk of complications from the flu after heart surgery.

"By getting vaccinated I can lower my chances of passing it on and protect everyone's health."

Further information

  • Please have your NHS number to hand, as your immuniser will need it to record your vaccine on the national database.
  • You'll find a list of our signed-off peer immunisers on the winter vaccines page of the intranet. Some colleagues still need to carry out training and be signed off to vaccinate, but we'll keep the list of immunisers updated regularly.
  • If you've already had your vaccine at your GP or with a community midwife, please self-declare so we can keep our records up to date 2025 Flu Vaccine - Self Declaration
