Here are former CHFT colleague Anya Macbeth's daughters, Isla (top left) and Phoebe (bottom left) getting involved in a fundraiser organised by a former patient in Kirkburton last month - all to raise funds for our Stroke Unit.

The Karate Fitness Challenge attracted 90 students taking part in an eight-minute fitness challenge and has so far raised £6,000. It was set up by their Chief Instructor, Colin Hanson, who suffered a serious stroke in 2019 and received care on the unit at CRH.

Colin's wife, Fay, said: “The Stroke Unit team at Calderdale Royal Hospital were amazing and not only did they save his life, but they set him on his road to recovery.”

Phoebe was born in June 2020 and we featured her and Anya in one of our earliest Covid bulletins. The video below shows her getting into the spirit inspired by her sister Isla, aged 10, and everyone else who joined them on the day.

Anya said: "It was great that Isla (and Phoebe!) could support this event for the charity. CHFT is there for us as a family as patients, so it was nice to be able to give something back."
