Surgical Typist, Maria Smith, retired last week after 50 years in healthcare. Her colleagues in the Surgical Department threw her a retirement party last week to celebrate. Her colleagues from Orthopaedics also attended.

Maria began her career in January 1975, working as a medical secretary / practice manager in a GP practice in Bradford. Maria joined CHFT in November 1995 as a medical secretary to Consultant Colorectal Surgeon, Mr P J Holdsworth.

In 2008 she switched roles, swapping from HRI to CRH as she started the role she has just retired from - a Surgical Typist.

All Maria's friends and colleagues from both HRI and CRH would like to wish her all the very best for her retirement where she plans to be spending much of her time with her grandchildren and travelling.
