Trac is the recruitment system used across CHFT. From Wednesday 27th August 2025 how you log into Trac is changing.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be introduced for colleagues who use Trac for the vacancy approval and recruitment processes within CHFT and CHS. This means that recruiting managers will need to use MFA when they log in.

This change is being introduced nationally to all Trac users to strengthen account security and ensure compliance with NHS England’s Multi-factor authentication (MFA) policy.

If you are a recruiting manager and Trac user, you might have seen notifications in the form of a warning message when you have log into Trac. Implementation has been phased in and CHFT and CHS are changing this week.

This change will mean there is an extra step in the log in process. You will be required to enter a One Time Passcode (OTP) upon login. The OTP will be emailed to the Trac user’s email address.  If you are a recruiting manager, this means that it will be sent to your email address.

For teams with a generic Trac account, for example VAB or divisional vacancy panels, you will need access to these emails to enable you to access Trac. Guidance on how to do this has been sent to you by the Recruitment Team.

If you are having any difficulties accessing the emails, please contact the IT helpdesk on 2600 in the first instance.

If you need any help or support using Trac, please contact the Recruitment Service on 01484 355168 or ask.recruitment@cht.nhs.uk
