As we read in our top story today featuring Jordan Brook who is living with ulcerative colitis, the side effects of living with a debilitating illness are often more than physical.

Our Clinical Psychologist, Dr Stacey Boardman, who works in gastroenterology recently took part in a podcast called Wrestling the Octopus. On it she talked about her role on the gastro psychology team and how she supports inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients across a whole host of issues faced when living with the disease.

Stacey said: “It’s so nice to see people make changes and learn what’s happening for them after they’ve had some physiological support. Psychology can bring perspective and understanding to a long-term illness which affects day to day lives and how people feel about themselves.
