To help colleagues get the flu vaccination in a convenient location, we’re welcoming back our peer immunisers for this year's winter flu vaccination campaign, which is due to start on Wednesday, 1st October.

Head Nurse for Surgery and Anaesthetics Tracy Burland, and Acute Floor Matron, Rhys Edwards, are leading the campaign this year, and they're looking for eligible colleagues to offer their support.

Tracy said: "We're looking for as many peer immunisers as possible. We know how busy our colleagues are, so it will be much more convenient for them not to have to go to a dedicated clinic this year. And the more vaccinators we have, the more choice colleagues will have too.

"It's vital that we protect as many people as we can from flu. It will also support us during the busiest times of the year - over the winter period."

Anyone who is a registered clinical practitioner can become a peer immuniser, including Registered Nurses, Midwives, Physios, OTs and Pharmacists.

There will be some training to complete ahead of the campaign, so if you want to know more or would like to express your interest, please email: flu@cht.nhs.uk for more details.

If you’ve been a peer immuniser before we'd love to have you back on board. Your training will need to be refreshed too, so please email the address above if you'd be happy to support the campaign this year.

If you are eligible for a Covid vaccine your GP practice will be in touch.
