As part of CHuFT on the Road, colleagues in Workforce and Organisational Development have been handing out CHuFT Award 2025 Finalist plaques to everyone who was shortlisted.
One such finalist is Head of Cardiac and Respiratory Physiology Services, James Battye, who had no idea he had been nominated by his colleague - Senior Cardiac Physiologist and Educational Lead, Wayne Massey, until he received his plaque.
James was a finalist in the Digital Champion category. His nomination reads:
"James has successfully transformed the way the department work and report tests, through a number of digital initiatives, leading to the team being virtually paperless. He deserves recognition for the hard work he has put into digitise for the better - which has made a positive difference to waiting times and efficiency."
It came as a lovely surprise to James, who said: "When I find out Wayne had nominated me – I was pleased and felt proud that one of my colleagues who is well respected within the department had put me forward for an award. This has given me inspiration to nominate people next year within our department who work extremely hard and do great things."
Wayne added: "I still think he should've won! He has been the drive behind Cardiology and Respiratory Departments going from analogue to digital in the space of two years. All of our reports are no longer published on paper, but instead are transferred digitally to the patient's records.
"Our clinic lists also link into this through the CRIS system. Again - with James overseeing this transformation."
