Operational Manager, Kam Khehra, is busy cooking up batches of samosas as she prepares to host an English-Asian themed afternoon tea this coming Thursday at HRI.

Kam pictured left, said: “I’ve wanted to do this for a long time, and I feel the time is right as a former HCA Angie Robinson (was Edwards), and now qualified Mental Health Nurse, is having treatment for the disease. She’s absolutely amazing – so full of life and funny. She also thinks it’s a fabulous idea.

“Breast Cancer is also one of the services that sits within our Surgical Division, and my fabulous colleagues are also supporting me by baking up some wonderful treats.

“I’m also doing this in memory of my beautiful mum who died from breast cancer at the very young age of 36. She left behind six daughters. The cancer was found when she was expecting my youngest sister. My mum was seven months pregnant at that time and only survived for four months after her birth.

“There will be sweet and savoury goodies and I’m so grateful to everyone for their support, including Springwood Sikh Temple in Huddersfield, who are providing pakoras for the event.”
