The iLab Apex system will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance between Tuesday, 12th August 07:00 and Wednesday, 13th August 15:00. This downtime is necessary to support the migration and post go live testing of the new Apex server.
During this period:
- Laboratory staff will be unable to access the system, and Pathology departments will activate their Business Continuity Plans.
- New results will not be transmitted to EPR or ICE during the downtime. However, historic results will remain accessible. All results will be available on EPR as normal after downtime.
- Only urgent samples will be processed. Results for these will be communicated directly to the requesting clinician or ward, where appropriate.
- Please only send truly urgent samples for processing during this time to avoid delays.
- Please print EPR request forms for urgent samples during the downtime.
- We kindly ask that you only contact or visit Pathology for urgent matters during the downtime to help minimise disruption.
- ICU routine samples are asked to arrive with Pathology by 05:00 to ensure time for processing. On Weds 13th August ICU samples will need to be sent with paper request forms as urgent samples.
- Ward phlebotomy service will operate as usual on Tuesday and Wednesday morning, but blood samples will only be processed once Apex is restored. As a result, test results may not be available until the following day.
- Teams are advised to defer routine phlebotomy requests to Wednesday, where clinically appropriate, to avoid delays.
