It is with great sadness that the Planned Access and Validation Team share the loss of their colleague and friend, Gary Booth.

Gary joined CHFT in June 1986, beginning his career in the Surgical Division. Over almost four decades, he became a trusted source of knowledge for Referral to Treatment (RTT) and was always focused on doing what was best for our patients.

Known for his cheeky sense of humour, and quick dry comebacks,  Gary could always lift the mood of those around him. Away from work, he had a great love of golf and was a proud supporter of Leeds United and was a proud family man — passions he spoke about often and with enthusiasm.

Gary’s calm approach, open communication style, and deep commitment to patient care truly embodied the values of CHFT. He was respected and admired by colleagues across the Trust, and his legacy will be felt by all who had the privilege of working with him.

Gary died peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife, Gillian, and son, Jamie, on Friday, 25th July 2025 following a short illness. Our thoughts are with his family and colleagues at this difficult time.
