As part of works to lay essential cabling to Calderdale Royal Hospital there will be road closures and temporary traffic lights in place from today until early September.
Please allow extra time for your journey and follow the diversion signs.
Dudwell Lane – road closure, starts today, Monday, 4th August for around two weeks.
- The Dudwell Lane entrance to the hospital will be closed during these dates.
- There will be access to CRH from Dudwell Lane for deliveries and patients using Renal, Endoscopy, Neurophysiology and the Diabetes Centre.
- All other patients will be advised to use the A&E car park, or the Women’s and Children’s car park.
- You will not be able to park on the road during this time.
- There will be no pedestrian access from the A629 onto Dudwell Lane.
Godfrey Road will have temporary traffic lights expected to start on Monday, 18th August, due to finish on Friday, 5th September.
- You will still be able to access CRH via the A&E entrance and the Women’s and Children’s entrance on Godfrey Road throughout these works.
- Access to these entrances will be via Dudwell Lane only.
- If you drive from the top of Godfrey Road at Skircoat Green, please follow the diversion signs.
- Measures will be in place to make sure you can exit the hospital from these car parks safely.
- You will not be able to park on the road during this time, though resident parking will still be available.
- Temporary traffic lights will be managed 24 hours a day.
- There will be pedestrian access throughout these works.
Shuttle buses
Shuttle buses will continue to run as usual. The timetable is on the intranet here - HRI to CRH shuttle bus - CHFT Intranet. Please allow an extra 5-10 minutes for your journey.
Public transport
Buses will follow the diversion route throughout the works. Bus routes affected are:
- 561 to Ripponden
- 563 to Brighouse
- 563A to Brighouse
Bus stops will still be in place. Please note that some bus stops may be on the opposite side of the road to usual with temporary pedestrian crossings will be in place.

Exceptions
Access to CRH will be maintained for deliveries, Blue Light services, and patients using Renal, Endoscopy and the Diabetes Centre via Dudwell Lane, using the diversion route.

Heffernan Utilities are doing these essential works to support the construction of the new Multi-Storey Car Park and Clinical Building at CRH and are taking place during the school holidays to minimise disruption.
We ask that you do not park on site in patient and visitor car parks.
