Our Consultant in Acute Medicine, and swimming sensation, Beatrix Langara is heading to Singapore to represent Hungary in the Masters Swimming World Championships at the end of the week.
Beatrix was born, raised and educated in Hungary, and is feeling proud, but nervous to be swimming for them. She said: "Swimming has been a massive part of my life. At the Masters I just want to prove myself and swim personal bests. I've trained so hard. It has been difficult to come back to the level I am now, after Covid.
"Despite being a full-time consultant, and mum of two, I am able to train four times a week - combining pool sessions and gym sessions. I am a big advocator for healthy lifestyles and leading by example. Not only at home, but in my hospital community as well.
"My biggest achievement so far has been winning bronze in the team events in Doha at the World Championships last year. I am also really proud of being the team manager for successful relays in my Huddersfield Club, resulting in me winning the Team Player Award two years in a row.
"After a difficult day, I love putting my swimsuit on, getting my head down and just keep swimming."
Good luck Beatrix and don't be nervous, we're all rooting for you!
