Planning is underway for an indoor cricket tournament between CHFT and The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

As we work together on more joined-up services to deliver patient care across the patch, it feels right to bring us all together for a bit of fun, too.

The tournament is on Saturday 10th June, between 10am and 5pm.

At the same time as having a bit of healthy (pun intended) competition, we’ll be raising funds for both hospital charities and the Cricket Asylum Foundation, in Sowerby Bridge, who are kindly hosting us for the day. They have a fantastic set-up so it’s going to be a brilliant day.

Our Deputy Medical Director, Neeraj Bhasin, pictured, accepted a challenge he saw from the Mid Yorkshire's Chief Exec on Twitter.  He said: "This event will not only support colleague wellbeing and our various charities, it's a vital step forward to team working between our trusts.

"The day is shaping up to be a really enjoyable and inclusive event, and I'm hoping we can build on this for the future."

Need to know

• We’re asking colleagues to register their interest to play in the first instance, as we’ll need more information from them. There will be a registration fee of £15 per player, which will be shared between all three charities
• No equipment will be needed as it’ll be provided
• Teams will be made up of all genders and abilities – so the playing field (pun intended) is fair
• We aim to bring together four teams from each trust, each with six players
• The matches will be 30 minutes long and we’ll be using a tape ball (which is softer than a traditional hard ball)
• There will be individual awards on the day too
• The tournament is open to colleagues only and we’ll welcome spectators along to support the players
• There will be a Kit Library at the event where players and spectators can donate old and unwanted equipment. The library supports under-privileged families and those who may not normally be able to take part in a sport they’d love to play
