Next Tuesday, 15th July, CHFT will be launching new chest X-ray Artificial Intelligence (AI) software. This cutting-edge technology is designed to support clinical colleagues who review chest X-rays by providing a ‘second set of eyes’ - enhancing decision-making and improving patient care.

As part of the Yorkshire Imaging Collaborative (YIC) and with funding from the NHS AI Diagnostic Fund, we’ve partnered with leading AI company Annalise.ai to introduce this advanced tool across all YIC trusts.

What does the software do?

The Annalise.ai chest X-ray software supports clinicians by generating a secondary capture image that checks for up to 124 radiological findings, including:

  • Lung cancer
  • Pneumothorax
  • Misplaced feeding tubes

The system provides annotated images within seconds, helping clinicians quickly identify urgent conditions and accelerate the reporting process. This will ultimately enhance diagnostic accuracy, efficiency, and patient outcomes.

No reports are generated by the AI and it is not intended to replace clinical judgement.

The system will apply to all patients aged 16 and over undergoing chest X-rays.

 Go-live date

The software will be available via PACS and go live from 15th of July 2025.
