Roadworks start today on the A629 Salterhebble Bypass in Halifax, and will last for 16 weeks, finishing at the end of September 2025.

Heffernan Utilities are undertaking the works to lay essential cabling along Salterhebble, Dudwell Lane and Godfrey Road to the current A&E entrance at CRH.

This will support the construction of the new Multi-Storey Car Park and Clinical Building at CRH.

A specialist traffic management company working closely with Calderdale Council will be responsible for traffic flow and have a robust plan to do the works over eight short phases, to minimise delays to journey times. There will be little disruption to public transport.

The work will take advantage of the summer daylight hours through the summer months and reduced traffic volumes during the school holiday period.

We will share further information on what this means for shuttle bus routes and colleagues, patients and visitors travelling to CRH, as the work progresses on to Dudwell Lane and Godfrey Road from August.

Route maps for the works can be found attached. If you have any questions, please email AskReconfiguration@cht.nhs.uk

The essential cable work supports the Foundations for our Future programme, which is our long-term vision to transform our services in Calderdale and Huddersfield. Further information about the programme can be found online: https://future.cht.nhs.uk/home
