The Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) is a global course, teaching trauma care for patients with life-threatening injuries. It teaches a range of trauma management skills relevant to all specialities. The course was recently held in our new Learning Centre at CRH.
ATLS course instructors who have supported this course include ED Consultant and Course Director, Dr Huw Masson and Consultants, Dr Amjid Mohammed, Dr Zaman Al-Kafaf, Dr Adris Razaq, Dr Mark Davies, Dr Ali Merchant and Dr James Bernard.
During the course, the team were joined by Laura De Vries from the RCS to ensure our facilities and course organisation met the required standards. Laura was so impressed with Clinical Skills and Simulation Technician, Caren Reid's, "Stop the Bleed" limb wound simulation training that she took photos in order to share with her colleagues at the RCS.
Feedback from the first day included:
"Great course with excellent mentors. Very well taught with a mix of practical and theory."
