Lead Professional Midwifery Advocate, Zoe Russell, recently arranged for one of the Pets as Therapy (PAT) dogs, Rocco, to come and visit the teams in Maternity Services to celebrate International Day of the Midwife.

Not only were the teams treated to the delightful doggie, Zoe also brought drinks and snacks for them, thanks to the kind contributions of the Royal Collage of Midwives (RCM). The hot chocolate, marshmallows and squirty cream were particular favourites amongst the teams.

Zoe also presented maternity colleagues with Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA) Recognition of Excellence certificates which are achieved by colleagues nominating someone for going above and beyond within maternity services. The PMA service offers restorative support to maternity colleagues whenever needed, the team assist with Quality Improvement (QI) projects, educational needs and have professional development conversations including preparation for revalidation. They also work closely with our Nurse Advocates to develop their service and other branches of advocates in the future.

Zoe said: "Rocco always brings sunshine and calm to our hard-working colleagues - he's also really helping to promote our PMA service."
