Ahead of Business Continuity Week, which begins on Monday 15th May, divisions are being asked to consider planning for an event or scenario in their area.

Planning for the exercises should take place between 1 and 7 May ahead of carrying out their exercise during the awareness week itself.

The exercise could take the format of a short group discussion or joining with other areas in a table-top exercise, ensuring that actions or learning from the exercise are logged on an action log; and the plans are reviewed and updated following the exercise.

Examples for scenarios:

  • A flood in your area
  • Large lottery syndicate win for multiple staff

Please let either Sarah or Karen know when your exercise will take place along with a copy of any amended plans.

If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact either Sarah.Rothery2@cht.nhs.uk or Karen.Bates@cht.nhs.uk for further guidance.

Business Continuity Management is a requirement for all NHS organisations so that they can maintain continuity of key services in the face of disruption from identified local risks.
