The Cardiac Rehabilitation and Heart Failure Support Group recently held a public engagement event at Heath Rugby Club to raise awareness and provide invaluable education on Basic Life Support (BLS).

Cardiac Rehabilitation and Heart Failure Team Leader, Clair Jones, said: "I am incredibly proud of the Cardiac Rehabilitation team for embracing the responsibility of running our support groups with such dedication and enthusiasm. Together, we developed a comprehensive business plan that secured funding from NHS England to establish and operate these groups.

We are now delivering our third support group, and it’s clear that we are going from strength to strength. This progress is a testament to the team's hard work, commitment, and passion for making a meaningful difference."

Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist Nurse, Katie Wilson, started the evening with a demonstration on effective Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). This provided attendees with practical, life-saving skills. Following this participants had the opportunity to engage hands-on by practicing CPR techniques, with guidance from experienced professionals.

Guests were also invited to explore the various information stands set up around the venue, offering resources on cardiac health, rehabilitation, Andy's Man Club, Vita Minds, heart failure and Heartbeat support Group . To add to the community spirit, attendees enjoyed a selection of coffee and biscuits, creating an inviting and relaxed atmosphere for networking and further discussions.

Clair added: "The evening was a resounding success, providing both educational and interactive opportunities for all who attended. The team’s dedication to raising awareness and empowering individuals with critical life-saving skills was evident, and the support for the cause was overwhelming".
