Well done to everyone who took part in the Manchester or the London Marathons this weekend.
Ward 11A Medical Ward Clerk, Olivia Smith, got in touch to sing the praises of her brother who works as an assistant practitioner at the Oak Unit in Calderdale and completed the Manchester Marathon on Sunday. James was fundraising for the Christies Charity as he wanted to support a charity which helps ease the financial burden cancer treatments can bring.
Olivia said: "We are so proud of James he ran his first ever Manchester marathon in 3 hours, 29 minutes and 26 seconds, he absolutely smashed it as he was aiming for a time of under three and a half hours. He has trained so hard for this and hasn't missed one session, rain or shine, fully dedicating himself to the training and wanting to do the Christies Charity proud.
"We managed to see him around mile 3, mile 16 and then saw him cross the finish line. It was such an amazing day with an incredible atmosphere, albeit very hot. We celebrated after, and James inhaled the biggest burger I've ever seen!"
