Here are Jordan and Grace Laban, our first parents to ring the new End of Journey Bell installed last week on the Neonatal Unit (NICU) at CRH.
The pair were taking their twin boys, Jax and Rory home to start family life with their big sister, Freya. They told the team they thought the bell was a great addition to the ward and ringing it signifies the end of their neonatal journey for them.
The idea came from one of our new Staff Nurses, Holly Beattie, pictured left with Sister, Jo Richardson.
Jo said: “Holly had seen these in use for the end of cancer treatments and looked further into them, only to discover they supply NICU bells too.
"We are now one of 60 units in the UK to have a bell, joining our friends at Leeds General Infirmary and St James's Neonatal Units in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
"As you can see from Holly's huge smile, she's absolutely over the moon that we're finally able to put this into use.
Keep smiling Holly and keep thinking of those families you give so much care and love to."
Thank you to End of Treatment Bells for donating the bell.
