Our second Low Vision Roadshow, held on Friday, 11th April, was a huge success. Members of the public and colleagues attended, to hear more from our Orthoptics Low Vision Team about the work they do here at CHFT, as well as in our local communities to support people who are living with or affected by sight loss.
The event was organised by Orthoptics Low Vision Lead, Lorna Clarke, and she was joined by team members Laura Charlesworth and Emma Lee. Our in-house Eye Clinic Liaison Officer for Kirklees, Fran Reilly, attended, along with local charities Outlookers, Halifax Society for the Blind, Tandem Trekkers and local talking newspapers. There were also retail companies showcasing their products to help with day to day tasks and improving quality of life for all.
Clinical Manager for Orthoptics and Optometry, Emma Griffiths, said: “It was brilliant to see all the team’s hard work pay off. We hope for this event to be a yearly resource for all, working together with our community colleagues to provide support to people using our services to live well, with access to support at the start of their sight loss journey and beyond.
"Huge thanks as ever go to our Charity for funding our refreshments on the day."
