Head of Estates, Tom Donaghey and Deputy Director of Operations, Sarah Rothery, recently presented fire compartmentation at a Board Development session to help give a better understand CHFT's Fire Safety Policy. Fire compartmentation is a fire safety strategy where a building is divided into smaller, fire-resistant compartments to limit the spread of fire, smoke, and heat.
Following the presentation, the group were given a tour of HRI where they visited plant rooms and ended with a visit up on the roof.
Chair, Helen Hirst, pictured second left, said: "We went from sub-basement to the roof and all points in between to better understand how risks are managed and where the priorities are for improvement.
"What was great about looking down from the roof was the impressive improvements that have been made to the HRI estate; seeing the new roof and redevelopment of sites such as the wellbeing garden."
Non-Executive Director, Denise Sterling, fourth from left, said: "For me, the visit highlighted how vital a robust fire safety strategy is in such a complex environment; and what we have in place to minimise fire risks keeping the hospital safe and patient care running smoothly."
