Last week we shared the news that renovation works at Dean Clough were complete, with some of our Community services starting to move in this week.
Recently some of our Experts by Experience* visited the new therapy spaces in Dean Clough Mills, and whilst there are still some final works to complete, their feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
The group were given a guided tour by Senior Estates Officer, Jammal Mohammed, and Head Nurse, Sarah Jayne Wilson.
They loved the light, airy space and the unique features that have been retained as part of the heritage of the building. They also gave us a few pointers to consider from a patient’s perspective. Their comments included:
- The gym is much more modern, and it doesn’t feel like a old school gym
- The whole space doesn’t look or feel like a hospital
- The colours throughout are pretty and contrasting, which is great for accessibility
- The place is smashing – a lot of thought has obviously gone into the whole build
- Colours used within were bright without being too bright
- It feels modern and bright
- Clinic rooms all felt spacious
- The seating area outside the building is a lovely spot to sit and wait before going in, or just to take in the sunshine
Huge thanks to our visitors for their insight. They're pictured below in the new cubicle area behind the outpatient gym. Left to right: Gabriel Serota, Stephen Halstead, Graham Hale and Janet Straughan.
*Our volunteer Experts by Experience play a vital role in helping us understand how it feels to access our services, or to care for someone who does, and to ensure that the voice of patients, carers or service users is represented and heard at the Trust.
The move to Dean Clough supports the Foundations for our Future programme, which is our long-term vision to transform our services in Calderdale and Huddersfield.
