Sets out information and guidance that clinicians must adhere to for the safe use of Larval Therapy (LT) across the Trust (applies to children and adults). LT uses the larvae of the greenbottle fly species Lucilia sericata to remove non-viable tissue and bacteria from non-healing, slow to heal or infected wounds.
Reviewed to reflect changes recommended by the West Yorkshire ICB Adult Discharge/ Transfer of Care policy 2024. Recommendations from the Healthwatch Report on discharge from hospital with reablement or intermediate care in place have also been implemented. Changes introduced due to the Covid-19 pandemic have been removed to reflect current practices.
Reduction of sections due to production of separate enteral policies (including nasogastric feeding policy, enteral feeding policy, gastrostomy policy, End of life policy, oral hygiene policy, refeeding policy, parenteral nutrition policy, short bowel policy). Inclusion of John’s campaign.
