Here’s CHuFT Awards 2023 winner and former apprentice, Healthcare Assistant, Phoebe Wells.
Phoebe won the Rising Apprentice category, only finding out when her friend and colleague Healthcare Assistant, Lucy Doran, messaged her on holiday in Italy.
Phoebe, who has spent all of her CHFT career on Ward 5b at CRH, said: “I was gutted that I couldn’t go to the Awards, as I already had holiday plans.
“To be honest I was really shocked to learn I’d been chosen as a finalist, so to win was just amazing.
“I must thank the Apprenticeship Team for all their support along the way. My colleagues also sent me lots of lovely supportive messages when they found out I’d won.
“Winning the Award made me feel more confident to do things at work that I might not have done before. I’ve also just applied to do mental health nursing, so I'm excited to see what that brings too.”
Some of the works in Phoebe’s nomination in 2023 were: “People don't realise how hard it can be, working long hours on wards, juggling university and other commitments - but Phoebe never shows it to her patients. She didn't think she could do it - and we're so proud of her."
