Congratulations to the ISS Security Team who have been nominated in two categories in the first-ever Workplace Violence Reduction Awards (WVRA), which take place tomorrow. The WVRAs recognise those who excel in different aspects of reducing violence in all types of workplaces.
The ISS Team are shortlisted in the Outstanding Partnership Initiative category. Their Security Officer, Denes Janka, has also been shortlisted in the Outstanding Training Initiative category for his hard work ensuring the security team are trained in de-escalation tactics, as well as physical intervention training. The security team are often complimented by their clinical colleagues on how well they handle situations.
After hearing he had been shortlisted, Denes said: "It was unreal when I heard the news. When my manager said she was going to nominate us, I never thought we'd get through. The whole team is very excited and happy. It's really nice to get this recognition."
Key Account Manager for ISS, Jamie Gibney, said: "I am really proud of the great job our security team are doing every day at Calderdale Royal Hospital. Security, like most jobs in a healthcare environment, is very difficult and our security officers face lots of adversity in their day-to-day role to keep patients, staff and visitors safe.
"I am really pleased about this well-deserved recognition that they have received and hope that our security team can get the appreciation that they thoroughly deserve by going on to win."
Good luck to the team, who will find out if they've won tomorrow.
