From this Saturday 29th March, our Hospital Palliative Care Service will be offering a 7-day service.

Palliative Care Consultant, Peter Westwood said: “After much hard work and a successful recruitment drive, I am pleased to see the return of the 7-day service for hospital specialist palliative care.

“Clinical Nurse Specialists working over weekends and bank holidays will be supported by the existing regional Palliative Medicine consultant on call. This remains a 24/7 service and matches the existing 7-day Community Specialist Palliative Care team support.

“This aligns our whole service with local and national ambitions for excellent palliative and end of life care. “

How to refer

• Weekdays: Refer through EPR or tel: 01484 342965
• Weekends / bank holidays: Please contact the Clinical Nurse Specialist through the switchboard between 08:00 and 16:00

Over the weekends and bank holidays urgent referrals can be accepted for:

• Hospice assessment
• Symptoms management
• Any other advice
