Huge congratulations to colleagues on HRI’s Ward 6, who are the top-performing inpatient ward for medication scanning in February, following the go live of Closed Loop Medication Administration (CLMA) last month.
EPR Lead Pharmacist, Alaya Khatun, said: “The ward achieved an impressive 60% scanning rate for oral medications in February, with some nurses surpassing 80%!
“CLMA involves scanning medication packs, as well as patient wristbands. This represents a huge patient safety benefit by ensuring patients receive the right medication, at the right dose, by the right route, and at the right time.
"The whole team on Ward 6, who were also enormously helpful during the pilot, quickly adapted to the new workflow, resulting in immediate improvements to patient safety."
Ward Manager, Sarah Bray, added: “I’m really proud of the team, not only at how quickly they’ve adapted to the change, but also the enthusiasm they’ve shown. Thank you to the CLMA team for all their support too.”
