Our Bariatric Surgery Team work to support patients who are referred for bariatric surgery - also known as metabolic or weight loss surgery. They help them through the pre-operative assessment, the surgical procedure, ward stay and then for a two-year post operative support pathway.
The team recently received the following feedback from a grateful patient: "I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the team in the bariatric clinic. Mr Saha was so considerate and understanding. He looked at and approached my lifestyle in a holistic way. After a conversation, he asked me to consider bariatric surgery and explained the long term benefits of this.
"A BIG thank you to all the team. Their thoughtfulness and kindness is exemplary. Their aftercare and understanding of the individual’s needs and the way the team support us is again, wonderful. I don't have to say this because I know you all do it automatically, but please keep up the wonderful work you are doing.
"Once again, many many thanks - I feel and look like a new person, and Mr Saha was right, I am reaping the benefits."
Bariatric surgery can lead to significant weight-loss and help improve many obesity-related conditions, such as type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. It is a major abdominal surgery, and in most cases should only be considered after a patient has already tried, but failed, to lose weight through other methods. If you want to learn more about what the team do, you can find more information on the bariatric surgery page of our website.
