Recently, our Palliative Care Team asked CHFT's Charity if they could put a call-out on social media asking people in our community to help our end-of-life patients by making syringe driver bags, as the team had run out.
Since posting the request for help, our Charity's office door has been constantly open due to the high volume of individuals and community groups dropping off their handmade bags.
One of these was Specialist Nurse, Stacey Bromley, who came laden with bags to donate. She said: "I saw the plea on Facebook and decided to share it with my local Holme Valley Community Group to see who might be able to help. The community did not disappoint. They dusted off their sewing machines and so far I have collected 30 bags from them all.
"I wanted to support the Palliative Care Team after they were involved in the care of my younger brother who sadly died almost 12-months ago."
A massive thank you to everyone who has supported so far. The bags are used to discreetly hide our end-of-life patients' medication. If you would like to contribute, the link to the pattern is here: Make a Syringe Driver Bag – Making For Charity
