A huge #TeamCHFT welcome to our cohort of 133 first-year students who begin their placements this week. Today they complete their Clinical Education Team induction.
Our new students will be working across both hospitals, with 82 working in adult nursing, 18 in child nursing, and 33 in midwifery. Around 20 will be working in community locations.
Please give our new student nurses them a warm welcome when you see them in clinical areas in the coming weeks.
We know our new students are eagerly looking forward their first clinical experience, and the Clinical Education Team (CET) will be available to support students and managers during this exciting time. The Clinical Education Team aim to see all hospital-based students over their 8 weeks. Colleagues and students are encouraged to contact the CET if they have any questions.
Uniform changes for our new student nurses
As you may know, our current students wear white uniforms. Due to university supply issues we have been notified of a last minute change to uniform.
Our newest group of learners will wear pale blue scrub tops with navy blue trousers. The scrub tops will feature the word "Learner" to clearly indicate their status. This uniform change is for all learners across nursing, midwifery, and allied health professions (AHPs). Additionally, the learners will wear a yellow "Hello, my name is..." badge, prominently displaying their role along with their university ID badge.
Students who began training prior to last September will continue to wear the white student uniform also embroidered with their student status.
It is expected this change is an interim measure until the university adopts the national student uniform in 2026.
Please email CET@cht.nhs.uk or call 01484 343664 if you have any questions.
