Later this week, patients who have the NHS App installed on their phone will be able to view their CHFT appointment letters and information sent via DrDoctor.
The NHS App is a quick, secure and convenient way to see health information at a glance. Accessing letters and information through the app will help save the NHS resources and is more environmentally friendly than paper letters.
Patients will still be able to access their letters and appointment information through our DrDoctor portal, though by using the NHS App they will no longer need to enter their surname, date of birth and postcode to get their one-time access code.
Patients who do not have access to a mobile phone will still receive their letters through the post. Patients will automatically be sent a paper copy if the letter hasn’t been viewed digitally within 72 hours. Where an urgent appointment is made and scheduled within the next four days, patients should receive a phone call with the details.
What other CHFT information can patients see in the NHS App?
Patients can already see upcoming appointments in the NHS App. They can also see historical appointments dating back to the 27th March 2024 when we moved to DrDoctor, who now manage our appointments for us.
Appointment reminders are also shared in the NHS App as well as by text message.
Do people need to do anything in advance to see their letters and appointments?
We're asking people to ensure they have notifications switched on. That way they'll get an instant message that an appointment letter is ready to view. It may take 24 hours for notifications to take effect.
When will appointment letters be available in the app?
We expect appointment letters to be available between Tuesday 21st and Thursday 23rd January.
