Ward 14 patients, colleagues and visitors were treated to carols and music over Christmas, courtesy of ward clerks Cathy Eastwood and Julia Clothier.

The musical pair took requests, performing carols such as Silent Night, We Wish you a Merry Christmas, The Coventry Carol and they finished with a resounding performance of Jingle Bells.

Cathy has been practicing carols since November with the Linthwaite Brass Band and Julia sings Alto in her spare time.

Laura Earle is currently covering as Ward Manager and said: “They both loved performing once they got going. You could see it in their faces, and they really got into the swing of it and gave it all their heart.

“Our colleagues really enjoyed the performance and stood with patients listening, and several staff visiting the area stayed to listen and said it brought some festive cheer.

"Cathy and Julia brought some much-needed festive cheer to Ward 14. You could see it in the faces of everyone listening, and their smiles whilst playing were just joyful. It was lovely to see patients singing along to the carols and having their requests played. Even a couple of patients who are normally fairly quiet joined in singing and it was just wonderful to see. Thank you to both of you for sharing your interests with the ward and spreading positivity."
